Camp Wambelong
Getting there: The campground is located in Warrumbungle National Park, which is 35 km or 30 minutes drive away from Coonabarabran. The campsite is situated beside Wambelong Creek. Drive along John Renshaw Parkway into the park, drive past the visitors centre turn off for about 1km.
Access: 2WD, caravans.
Stay: Tent camping, camper trailers, caravans, camping beside your vehicle. The campground is famous for its Split Rock, the Grand High Tops and Mount Exmouth walking tracks.
Facilities: Pit toilets, picnic tables, wood barbecues. Bring your own drinking water and firewood.
Fees and booking: Camping - $5.00/$3.00 per adult/child per night. Car entry - $7 per day.
Large group booking is required. Camping areas are busy during Spring and Autumn school holidays, Easter and the October long weekend. It is difficult to find free spaces during those seasons and large groups share the camping area with individual campers.
